What a week it has been. . . . . From Hotel to Education.
I'm thrilled to share that I've started a new role as an SIH Manager. The support from colleagues across all the campuses has been incredible. Everyone has reached out, offering help and checking in on my day. They even arranged a group call to introduce me to other managers in similar roles.
This organisation is deeply committed to mental well-being for both staff and students, emphasising work-life balance. They truly believe in leaving work at the office, allowing personal time to be just that—personal.
The abundance of training materials and resources is astounding. On my first day, I received a company credit card, was invited to a managers' retreat in Manchester, paired with a buddy to help navigate my workload, and given access to a library for personal development. This library is dedicated to personal growth in any form, from creative to professional.
My Line Manager is supportive, upfront, and has a great sense of humour, making this experience even more rewarding. The team I'll be overseeing is knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly, making my transition from hotel to education seamless and enjoyable.
My Line Manager has emphasised that my main focus for the next two months is training and understanding the system and culture—this is my priority. My calendar is filled from Monday to Friday with training sessions, sometimes up to four a day, which I'll attend either in person or online. The practical aspects will be learned along the way, with the team ready to help and support. If I have any questions, I'm encouraged to reach out to anyone. However, I haven't needed to because they've been proactively reaching out to me.
I'm grateful for this opportunity and excited for what's to come!
